Houston, we have liftoff.
In this case, it wasn’t exactly sending astronauts to the moon … but amid the 4,000+ managed care pharmacy professionals on-site at AMCP 2025 in Houston this week, there was a palpable sense of growth, change and ascension in the role that pharmacy should play in improving health outcomes and costs.
It’s no coincidence that very theme aligned with a poster presentation developed by representatives from MUSC College of Pharmacy, in collaboration with Stellus Rx.
Entitled “Evaluation of the Impact of a Clinical Pharmacist-Led Patient Engagement Program on Cost Savings,” the study included cohort analysis of 868 Medicare Advantage patients and showed medical expense reduction of $113.60 per member per month among patients enrolled in the program for at least 9 months.
